Wide Open Spaces
Dearest Friend,
I am emerging from the haze of jet lag, while also remembering the hazy, joyful days of a hot, humid summer vacation in Canada.
Every summer we travel across the Atlantic to spend time with family in the prairies. I love the wide open spaces, and the wide open hearts, that are ready to welcome us.
I am still thinking about how to integrate this expansiveness into my daily life. How can I chase wide horizons when the daily view from my studio is a patchwork of quaint Victorian rooftops and church spires?
On our way home, we stopped in Toronto to explore Niagara and the Big City. The falls thundered with power; the city pulsed with energy.
Here are my travel sketches from the trip!
Are there any adventures awaiting you this summer? I’d love to know!
May you find clear skies wherever you are,
X
Jane
P.S. I’m still working on the art journaling course! I’ll let you know as soon as I’m ready to launch.
P.P.S. I videoed a my daughter paging through my last sketchbook. You can watch it here. It’s 4 minutes long.
JULY SKETCHES
The wildfires in the north of the Province made the air quality quite difficult. For a few days, the sunrise glowed apocalyptic orange.
I never saw the full moon because of the hazy sky. It’s the first full moon I’ve missed painting in 2 years.
We love going on the M.S. Kenora cruise in the Lake of the Woods.

Love your art!
beautiful!
