I always enjoy receiving your newsletters - I love looking at your sketches! I tried picking up watercoloring months ago, but I struggled a lot with wanting everything to be perfect and "be consistent". Do you have any tips or advice on picking up a hobby and just enjoying it rather than pretend to be perfect from the get go?
Oh my. I think the best way to pull old sketchbooks apart. Or get scraps of watercolour paper. And just play and experiment with no pressure. 5 min at a time. You’ll learn a lot and become a lot more confident.
Great questions! I draw “almost” every day. It usually takes 15-20 min. I often draw on the go. But I always paint at home. And I use a hair dryer to dry the paint quickly if I’m in a rush! I use standard Winsor and newton watercolour tubes
I feel like I need a poster or something with those definitions on my wall. I love it! My current project is not hard, it's just challenging - a good reminder that I can do it!
This is beautiful (as are your paintings/drawings)! One of our family mottos is “we can do hard things” and I deeply appreciate the reframing of this & further exploration, delineation of types of “hard”. Thank you. 😊
Thank you for your inspiration today! I think we all need this change in perspective. And I love your artistry... it is beautiful and also inspirational.
What a great reframe, thank you! Beautiful sketches as always💜
I’m so glad it resonated with you!

I love your sketch book, it is very inspiring. Do you do it everyday start to finish? If so, how long do you spend on it? Roughly. Thanks.
Do you do it at home or sometimes on the go? And what kind of colours do you use? Do they dry quickly?

That’s wonderful. It’s so great when we can reframe challenges so that we feel more in control and less overwhelmed.

I think it’s always wonderful to reexamine our assumptions to see if we can learn more. So glad you liked it!

As my ballet teacher says when giving a tricky combination, “It’s actually kind of fun, isn’t it?!” LOL
Always room for some sparkle in the tasks. ❤️😉

Sometimes I get pictures in my mind from books I've read. But I have no idea how to make them. Help!
