Impressive reading list, what's your tip for reading nearly 2 books a week?

I have both paper books and ebooks going at the same time. I read paper books at home. And ebooks when I’m out and about with my daughter and waiting for swimming or ballet to finish. Most ebooks are borrowed via the libby app. And most paper books are borrowed from my local library (or by inter library loan). If you see me staring at my phone, I’m probably reading an ebook! 😂

that's smart. I should get into the habit of carrying my kindle with me when my paper book is heavy!

Can I ask what you use for the gold leaf? That is gorgeous!

There is an art shop near me that sells 4 inch by 4 inch squares of 24k gold leaf. I put adhesive into the page, then gently rub the gold on.

I loved the sketch-glimpse into your perspective, and added so many books to my Goodreads list (: Thank you (: My favorite books last year were The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store, Cloud Cuckoo Land and the Thursday Murder Club series, in case you haven’t read any of those yet (:

I love this list. It’s so eclectic. That’s how I read. I love finding connection between seemingly disparate sources.

You like graphic novels for middle grades? Have you read The Eyes and The Impossible by Dave Eggers? A pure delight!

It's one book. The premise is a dog (who doesn't know he's part wolf). The animals all live on an island and the buffaloes appoint him as The Eyes. Later he comes up with an Impossible plan for the buffaloes. Beautiful adaptation of paintings for the scenery!

Jane, a lot of books read and talented drawings. What were your favorite Science Fiction reads? Full disclosure- I’m about done with my novel that leans SciFi and am interested.

Oh. And I forgot the moon of the crusted snow! Set in northern Canada. Dystopian. An indigenous population survives using ancient wisdom. So good! Thought provoking too.

I loved In Ascension. So good. I’m still thinking about the ambiguous ending months later.

Station 11 was good. But I felt that the Sea of tranquility was the same story just told a different way.

Dune was okay. A bit trippy. A bit dated. Yadda yadda.

I enjoyed A Memory Called Empire. Though I admit that I didn’t fully grasp all the sub plots. There was a lot to keep track of.

The End We Start From was interesting. Dystopia told from the perspective of a pregnant woman young mother. It changes that survival stakes when there is a baby to look after.

Overall, in ascension was my absolute favourite. But I enjoyed them all.

And the Devil in the Stack read like science fiction, even though it was non fiction. The world of coding is so nuanced. And affects so much of our lives.

I can recommend them all!

In Ascension had an original premise. I think MacInnes lives in Scotland. Agree about Dune feeling dated. Thanks for the comments.
