A beautiful project and a welcome reminder to look up at the sky! Gazing at the moon and stars always helps put things back into perspective I find! I love your whole collection but especially the lush vegetation counterpoint of May. ❤️
Jane this is wonderful, thank you so much for sharing, what gave you the idea? I particularly love the one with the shingles and the side of the house with the moon on the left. I love how bright the shingles are rendered. Additionally the one with the television antenna is wonderful :)
I had actually tried this challenge a few years ago but gave up because at the time my small daughter demanded so much time and energy. I don’t know what prompted the initial idea. Perhaps some 18th century Japanese prints. I always sketch super lightly in pencil first. Thank you so much for your kind words!
What a great idea. I like the do-ability of this. I get quickly overwhelmed with edicts like: write in your journal every day/week. Doesn’t work for ME, but about once a month. My favorite moon was August.
I believe the July moon is traditionally named thunder moon by the indigenous people who first lived where I grew up. There certainly are lots of storms in July, even in London.

Thanks so much! You’re right about the perspective. 💕
Beautiful paintings, it's fascinating to see how the sky changes across the year and the seasons.
Yes! The sky is so different each day!
What a beautiful idea. Watercolor moons in a little book is an inspiration. Thanks for sharing. I’m going to paint a journal.
That’s wonderful! I’d love to see some of your paintings.

Finally, do you usually sketch these first or do you start with your brush pen? What’s your process like?

With every page, I thought: okay, this one’s gong to be my favorite.
Me too. 🌙
That is the most wonderful comment. Which one won out!
Very Lovely!
Thank you so much!
What a cool project!
Thanks so much!
I love these.
Thank you so much!
So lovely to see them all together ❣️
Thank you so much!
Jane, these are just beautiful! I think if you were to continue the project for another year it would be interesting to see the variations in 2025.
I’m wondering the same thing! So I think I’ll continue.
I am so excited to have found your account!!
That’s so wonderful! Happy to have you here!
Your paintings are beautiful but why does every month have a full moon? Why no phases of the moon?
I haven’t done phases as I don’t have time! So I’ve focused on the full moons. It also creates a nice monthly rhythm.
January or September, or should I say November? No, I can't decide, they are all beautiful!
Thank you so much! They’re all my favourites too!

Exactly! I loved that it was monthly, as I could rest in between. Thanks so much!
Love what you did and that you stuck to it all year long! I wonder how the moon drawing titles came about, Thunder moon sounds good to my eyes 🙂
